Reasons why you should visit Uganda

We would like to welcome you to the “Pearl of Africa”.

“ Winston Churchill wrote, “Uganda is truly the Pearl of Africa.”
For magnificence, for variety of form and color, for profusion of brilliant life — bird, insect, reptile, beast — for vast scale — Uganda is truly “the Pearl of Africa.”
The Kingdom of Uganda is a fairy tale. The scenery is different, the climate is different and most of all, the people are different from anything elsewhere to be seen in the whole range of Africa….what message I bring back…concentrate on Uganda.
Winston Churchill (My African Journey – 1908)

Why you should Visit Uganda

People
Every traveller knows how the attitude of local people can influence the experience when visiting a new country. People in Uganda are friendly, open and curious with a great sense of fun. You will receive a warm welcome Ugandans’ smiles are as warm as their sun. It’s been said over and over again that Ugandans are the friendliest people in the region. They are welcoming and curious about their visitors and where they come from, and a Ugandan will
Food,
Uganda’s food is as rich as its culture, because each tribe has its own staple food. A proper Ugandan meal is a celebration in itself, and some meals are prepared as early as the day before, to be served at lunch the following day. Then there is the street food, the most notable being the rolex. While a Rolex is a timepiece in most countries, in Uganda it’s a popular street food that can be eaten any time of the day. It’s an omelette that is rolled with a chapatti and some onions and tomatoes; bonus points if the tomatoes are raw and if you eat it by the stall.
 Evergreen State
If you think that everything south of the Sahara is arid, yellow and inhospitable, you are definitely trapped in a cliché! All I can remember when thinking back is the green emerald colour that dominates the landscape.
The lush and luxurious jungle which characterises the rainforest is replaced by banana, tea and coffee plantations around the villages making the long drives exciting and varied. I was amazed to find out that Bwindi impenetrable forest features more than 1,000 flowering plant species and almost 200 different types of trees, many of which are endemic. It is no wonder that this precious ecosystem is home to an incredible variety of birds, butterflies and mammal
There are the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains that tower over much of Western Uganda, the rainforests and jungles not found in any other East African country.   Wherever you turn the green of its vegetation provides a pleasant backdrop one could call this the “Evergreen State” Pearl of Africa state.
Wildlife
Incredible wildlife that lives in Uganda. Those who are Nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts are in for a treat. Uganda is a country of various habitats stretching from tropical rain forest, thickets, swamps, lake shores to savanna and open grassland. This has made it possible for various birds and mammals to find suitable home for their stay in Uganda. You will be thrilled to see herds of water buffalo in Queen Elizabeth National Park and watch hippos and elephants playing in the water of the Kazinga Channel. I took hundreds of photos of colourful birds, lazy crocodiles and elegant antelopes you can even spot the famous tree climbing lions in Ishasha and leopard
You can visit Bwindi Impenetrable Rainforest with its gentle giants, the endangered mountain gorillas. You can climb high mountains and glaciers right on the equator in the Rwenzori mountains or Volcanoes in Mgahinga Gorilla Park or Mount Elgon Park. White Water rafting on the historic River Nile, the bustling Nightlife of Kampala, the jungles of Kibale Rainforest with the highest concentration of Primates in East Africa, including chimpanzees. See Uganda’s savannas, lakes, rivers, wildlife, scenic wonder

Security and stability:
Uganda has had a torrid past of bloody conflicts and civil wars that still lingers in minds of many of travellers. It has since stepped out of this dark past and for last six or so years has been one of the most secure nations on the African continent. Kampala, Uganda’s capital is rated among the safest cities in Africa.

Water Bodies
Uganda boasts of numerous Lakes, waterfalls, channels; the water element is prevalent in the Ugandan landscape which even features the source of the mighty Nile. Apart from allowing the lush vegetation to survive, this precious element adds to the beauty of the scenery and is the habitat for many species that otherwise wouldn't be able to survive up your visit to the Pearl of Africa.
Safaris:
Uganda has 10 national parks and each one offers different specific activities or a combination of them, in addition to bird watching.  There are gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Mgahinga Gorilla National Park where Gorilla tracking is carried out. Uganda has three mountain national parks, Rwenzori, Elgon and Mgahinga offer mountain climbing. The enormous game viewing is mostly done in savanna areas and among the Savannah national parks we have Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth, Lake Mburo, and Kidepo Valley National Parks. Boat trips and spots fishing are carried out in Lake Mburo, Queen Elizabeth and Murchison. Nature walks are offered by all the National Parks.

Adventure:
Uganda is home of the well-known River Nile, the longest river on earth. The Nile offers a life time of adventures which includes grade 6 white-water rafting, kayaking, bungee jumping, canoeing, jet boating, river surfing  and lots of more. Trekkers and hikers can take on the snow-capped and UNESCO World Heritage-listed Rwenzori Mountains, famously known as the Mountains of the Moon, with stunning views of the equatorial mist from top. For more treks there is the Mt Elgon and the dramatic Virunga Volcanoes of Mgahinga National Park.

Affordability of gorilla permits is among the reasons why one should visit Uganda in 2018. It should be noted that while gorilla trekking can be done in Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda increased the price of her Volcanoes national Park from USD750.00 to USD1500.00 what people called doubling the price. Uganda on her side decided to scrap discounted gorilla permits but maintained the price of a gorilla permit at USD600.00 per person per trek. This therefore means that it is very expensive to trek in Rwanda than Uganda. With USD1500.00 that is paid for one gorilla permit in Rwanda, one can trek twice in Uganda and still save USD200.00. Thus affordability of gorilla permits in Uganda should be one of the reasons why one should visit Uganda in
Chimps and Gorillas

Uganda has identified herself as one of few the few African destinations developing at a very high rate when it comes to tourism. Uganda is gifted by nature and has all the reasons why one should visit Uganda in 2018. Uganda is gifted by so many natural and cultural attractions yet undiscovered by many

Although the gorilla trek has to be the main highlight, Kibale National Park has the biggest population of chimps on earth and is the best place to observe them.

The chimp trek is a fantastic experience and is quite different from the gorilla trek as it involves being very vigilant and fast to understand where the chimps are and how to find them.

Wildlife enthusiasts know that a gorilla encounter is the ultimate wildlife experience. Unlike the chimps, which can be more difficult to spot, you are pretty much guaranteed an encounter with the gorillas.. Uganda still remains virgin and most tourist interviewed say that this was their first visit and promised to return with their friends.

Local fruit
The fruits of Uganda  is unsurpassed in taste, you can even eat the and enjoy to the fullest, sweet, juicy, mangoes to live for, papaya that tastes so fruity they burst with flavor and then there is Jackfruit, the closest thing to honey in a fruit.
This is one of the most bountiful countries in all of Africa…in some regions, one can harvest up to three crops a year.  In one corner near Rwanda, the newly grown apple trees are producing two crops a year. Coffee in abundance and some of the finest mountain-grown Arabica beans, at the same time lots of Robusta beans are used to make instant coffees, and cola drinks in the west, other cola products and more.
National Park lodges,
From low Budget to Five-Star lodges at their best, ready to pamper your every need during your stay in the Uganda Wild. Stay in lodges, tented camps in the traditional style, or lovely bandas (cabins), food ready with the utmost care – yes, Uganda is ready for your visit.
Hopefully you are sensing that this wonderful country, this magnificent land, with the equator running through it from east to west, with the majestic Rift Valley making its mark from South to North and with the beginning of the majestic Nile river found here, and running throughout Uganda to the north toward the Mediterranean Sea is well worth a visit.
